Requirements

Candidates must possess professional certification in at least one of the following: MAICSA, FCIS (CGIUK), or HKCGI, with preference given to those holding multiple qualifications. A minimum of five years of practical experience in corporate governance, company secretarial practice, or related fields is essential, alongside at least two years of teaching or training experience, preferably in an online environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of corporate governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Strong command of English is mandatory, with excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary for effective online instruction. Technical proficiency with online learning platforms, video conferencing tools, and digital content creation is required. A relevant advanced degree in law, business administration, or governance studies would be advantageous, as would experience in preparing students for professional examinations.

Competency Criteria and Academic Qualifications

Core Technical Competencies

Governance Expertise: Advanced knowledge of corporate governance codes, principles and frameworks including MCCG 2021, UK Corporate Governance Code, Hong Kong CG Code, OECD Principles, and international best practices. Demonstrated understanding of fiduciary duties, director responsibilities, board effectiveness, stakeholder management, and governance mechanisms.

Legal Proficiency: Comprehensive understanding of company law across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Companies Act 2016 (Malaysia), Companies Act 2006 (UK), and Hong Kong Companies Ordinance. Expertise in securities regulations, listing requirements, disclosure obligations, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Strategic Management: Mastery of strategic planning methodologies, competitive analysis frameworks, strategic implementation processes, and performance measurement systems. Understanding of strategic governance, board's role in strategy, and alignment between strategy and risk appetite.

Risk Management: Proficiency in enterprise risk management frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, internal control systems, and risk governance structures. Knowledge of ISO 31000, COSO frameworks, and sector-specific risk management requirements.

Teaching and Pedagogical Competencies

Instructional Design: Capability in curriculum development, learning outcome formulation, assessment design, and educational technology integration. Experience with adult learning principles, professional education methodologies, and competency-based training approaches.
Digital Pedagogy: Proficiency in online teaching methodologies, virtual classroom management, asynchronous learning facilitation, and digital engagement strategies. Expertise in creating interactive online content, conducting effective webinars, and utilizing learning management systems.
Assessment and Evaluation: Skills in formative and summative assessment design, rubric development, examination preparation strategies, and constructive feedback provision. Understanding of professional certification assessment standards and examination requirements.

Professional and Interpersonal Competencies

Communication Excellence: Superior verbal articulation, written communication proficiency, cross-cultural communication awareness, and ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Multilingual capabilities advantageous, particularly English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia.

Professional Credibility: Established reputation in corporate governance field, demonstrated thought leadership, professional network connections, and ongoing engagement with governance community. Publication record, speaking engagements, or consultancy experience valued.

Coaching and Mentoring: Student-centered approach, individualized learning support capabilities, motivational skills, and ability to guide professional development. Experience in career counseling and examination preparation coaching beneficial.

Technical and Digital Competencies

Platform Proficiency: Expertise with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or similar learning management systems. Familiarity with digital whiteboarding tools, breakout room facilitation, and online collaboration platforms.

Content Development: Proficiency in PowerPoint, Articulate, Camtasia, or similar content creation tools. Ability to develop multimedia learning resources, interactive presentations, and digital assessment materials.

Data Management: Competence in student information systems, grade management platforms, learning analytics interpretation, and progress tracking tools. Understanding of data privacy requirements and educational technology security protocols.

Academic Qualification Requirements

Minimum Academic Level: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB), Business Administration (BBA), Accounting (BAcc), or related field from recognized institution. Professional qualifications MAICSA, ACIS/FCIS, or HKCGI considered equivalent to or exceeding bachelor's level for this position.

Preferred Academic Level: Master's degree (LLM, MBA, MSc in Corporate Governance, or MPA) from accredited institution. Doctoral qualifications (PhD, DBA, or Professional Doctorate) highly advantageous. Executive education from prestigious institutions such as INSEAD, Harvard Business School, or London Business School valued.

Continuous Professional Development: Evidence of ongoing professional education through CPD programs, professional certification maintenance, specialized governance courses, or executive education programs. Minimum 40 hours annual CPD expected.

Research and Scholarship: Demonstrated academic writing ability, peer-reviewed publications preferred, conference presentations, or contribution to professional journals. Involvement in governance research projects or policy development initiatives advantageous.
